-Born and raised in Florida, DJ Icey has been mesmerized by electronic music ever since hearing the synthesizer breakdown on The Edgar Winter Groups "Frankenstein". "My mom had that album and I would play that middle part over and over wondering how they made that sound, Icey recounts. I was little and thought it was so cool". Rising to worldwide prominence out of the fertile Orlando FLorida electronic music scene which has spawned the likes of AK 1200,Kimball Collins, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, and Baby Anne, Icey cut his teeth at the legendary EDGE nightclub in the mid-90s, and even persuaded The Chemical Brothers to play their first show Stateside there. Zone Records continues releasing more than a dozen records a year and his second label Tree Records follows very closely behind with slightly more eccentric productions.
Discovered for the punters by BBC Radio 1 DJ and longtime A&R kingpin Pete Tong , Icey became the first American producer to sign to his U.S. ffrr label in 1997 as an artist thanks to Pete and U.S. Honcho Neil Harris, He was the first American DJ to be selected to record a prestigious "Essential Mix" for U.S. Release. With over 200 12 singles under his production belt and 5 cd releases, Icey has SoundScanned over 300,000 CD units in North America alone. Playing 100+ gigs per year, Icey is a touring maniac. But that doesnt keep him out of the studio during the week working on new tracks for his Indie Labels Zone and Tree records, constantly trying to push the envelope to make his fans sweat on the dancefloor.
Through the years Icey has impacted the breaks movement with his hard-hitting and popular mix CD's and with 2007 comes a fresh new mix on Moist Music NYC entitled…"Disco Rodeo". It features up-front music from Worldwide artists such as Rogue Element and Tom Real, General Midi, Hook N Sling & Kid Kenobi, Keith Mackenzie, Noisia and Entity, as well as collaborations with Krafty Kuts and Jen Lasher. I would like to welcome everyone who visits here. This is something I decided to do to keep people "in the know" when it comes to trance in Austin. I am going to keep the introduction short and sweet, but I think I will at least tell you guys where I come from.

I grew up in Phoenix Arizona enjoying the sounds of hip hop and weird electronic bass type music for my insanely loud sound system I had in all my vehicles. I left home when I was 19 to join the armed forces and found myself living in San Diego, California. It didnt take but a couple months for my circle of friends to corrupt me into the real electronic scene. I listened to trance music from the get go for probably a year before I ever went to my first rave or club that played it. Once my cherry was popped, I was hooked. About 2 or so years of partying, I decided I loved the music so much that I would take it up as a hobby. I had a wonderful friend lend his equipment by letting me come over and making his ears bleed with train wreck after train wreck. I knew then that this was something I was going to do for some time, and went out and bought myself all top of the line equipment. Quite a bit for someone just learning, but I didn't care.

The end of 2006, I finally decided I needed to vacate Southern California and find refuge in a more realistic town in respect to cost of living. My transition had me back in Phoenix for about 8 months. During that 8 months, I became the fastest upcoming trance DJ's in town. Unfortunately, trance isn't as popular in Phx as it was in Southern California. Now, my home is Austin and I plan to hopefully get together with other trance DJ's in town and see what we can revive.
